Efydd David Meredith Bronze

Although born in Leicester in 1973, we’re fairly sure that with a name like Dai Meredith, this sculptor must surely be firmly rooted in Wales. He studied at the Leicester College of Art where he initially aspired to a job as an illustrator. However, a chance meeting at the end of year exhibition led to a career in the pewter industry.Starting as an apprentice modelmaker, working in minute detail to create items for the jewellery and giftware industry, David’s chosen career path led him away from illustration and towards sculptural work.

Within two years he had already become the head sculptor at Alchemy Carta but he decided it was time to branch out on his own as a sculptor. He went for it and started exhibiting his own work in galleries and fulfilling private commissions. To make ends meet in these early years he continued to work for the giftware industry as an independent contractor and sculpted items for many of the leading names at the time.

David has now worked professionally as a sculptor for over 20 years. He has lived in Africa, Asia and America and has taken inspiration from all these places but of late his focus has been firmly on wildlife mainly expressed in bronze. Here at Rhiannon we believe he is the leading wildlife bronze sculptor in the UK at this time and we are very pleased to have his work for sale in our collection.
